Last night we welcomed in a new year and a new decade. 2020. This was obviously our first New Years as parents so it was quite a bit different than our previous ones. This year I started the day off how I normally do, changing Rhea and putting her in a new outfit. I got her in a cute blue and gold onesie with cream and gold pants. I needed To exchange a pair of boots I got for Christmas and Tevin had a birthday gift card so we decided to go to Target. While roaming around we passed by an air fryer. Tevin was just raving about some wings we ate at his uncles house that were made with an air fryer so after about 30 minutes we decided to get it! We were both super excited to use it so we bought some wings to make for the night.
When we got home Tevin seasoned up the wings and let them marinate and I cut up some potatoes for fries. We hung out for a while until around 7pm and then we started up our wings and fries. Rhea pooped through her first outfit so we changed her into some jeggings and her “happy girl” onesie. Our friends Lauren and Jory and their daughter, our goddaughter, Kinsley came over to ring in the new year with us. Guys, if you don’t have an air fryer get one now. These wings cooked so fast and were delicious! And the best part is they only used two tbs of oil to fry. I probably ate about 12 of these wings y’all. Seriously, so good.
While everyone enjoyed their whiskey and Dos Equis, I enjoyed a mommy mule. I love Moscow mules so I just kicked the vodka out and put some sprite instead. Ginger beer, sprite, strawberries, and lime. Good mocktail if you ask me. I also had some Heineken Zero, Heineken without the alcohol.
Even though this years celebration was different than all my others I still had a great time and was so happy to ring in the new year with my husband and new baby. It was so nice to have friends over and have a little “party”. We hung out with our neighbors as well which is always a good time. Rhea attempted to stay up until midnight and she nearly made it! You guys this girl was not trying to go to bed. She was asleep and in her bassinet at literally 11:58pm. I walked out of the room and Lauren said “oh good you have one minute left.” I had no clue what she was talking about for a second until I saw the count down on tv. Midnight hit and of course Tevin and I shared a typical new years kiss. This midnight kiss was just little bit more special because it marked Tevin and I’s five year anniversary. Ringing in a new decade while celebrating half a decade. ❤️
As for the actual first day of the new year, we hung out at home and I worked on painting our entertainment center. Rhea was fussy and wanted to be held most of the day probably because of her 11:58 bedtime. I went to Kroger to get groceries this morning and we had some cabbage and black eyed peas that my grandmother in-law made. Rhea had a bath and was in her bassinet asleep but 9:30 tonight which gave me some time to do a little workout and some more painting. I am going to try to get her in bed around 9:00-9:30 from now on so I can have some time to work out before bed. Part of my new year goals. (I’ll do a “New Year goals” blog post this week. Be on the look out for it to see other things Tevin and I are aiming to accomplish this year.) Anyways enjoy a few pictures below of our night and comment to let me know what you did to celebrate the new decade!
